JavaScript

With HTML and CSS, JavaScript makes up the three cornerstone technologies of the World Wide Web. JavaScript is a high-level, dynamic, weakly typed and interpreted multi-paradigm programming language. While JavasScript is known for being the defacto scripting language for the web, it is also used outside browser environments in projects like Adobe Acrobat, CouchDB, and Node.js.

Javascript (JS) is widely supported by web browsers of today under the standard of ECMAScript by ECMA International, and as of 2012, all major browsers support ECMAScript 5.1.

JavaScript played a vital role in making the web dynamic. Before JavaScript, the web was purely static, where every interaction needed a page refresh for changes to take place. Today the internet is a whole other place filled with dynamic client-side interactivity. Beside that JavaScript is also used server-side in applications, games and database development. The language is arguably the most widely used programming language of today, according to a StackOverflow developer survey done in 2018, 62.5% of respondents claiming to use it.
