Content Delivery Network

Content Delivery Network

Content Delivery Network is short for CDN, and is a geographically distributed network of proxy servers. The severs are spread out in different data centers across the world with the intent to provide high performance and availability of static files. By locating files closer to the end user, the content will be downloaded faster and the end-user will ultimately have a better experience. CDN's are mostly used by web-based applications and sites since everything on the web has to be loaded at runtime, and nothing comes bundled like with normal applications or games.
