Minecraft is a sandbox video game created by Markus "Notch" Person and his company Mojang. The game was released May 17, 2009 and saw huge success early. This made big corporations interested in the franchise and in 2015 Microsoft bought the game for 2.5 billion dollars. Today Minecraft is available on major platforms such as PC, Mac, Xbox Android, iOS and Windows Phone.
