SVG stands for Scalable Vector Graphics and is an XML-based markup language for describing two-dimensional based vector graphics. The SVG format is heavily used on the web where developers make use of it to create two-dimensional graphics that have support for interactivity and animation. SVG can be created and edited with any text editor, can be searched, indexed, scripted, and compressed, and is scalable and zoom-able.
